Designing Envato’s music landing page

As part of Envato’s new brand and landing-page system, I designed a music page that helps people find and download the right tracks fast. It supports the workflow existing customers already know, while helping new visitors discover relevant background, intro, and logo music they might not have found otherwise.

Background

A music page for a new brand system

As part of Envato’s new brand and landing-page structure, we set out to design a music page that lets people find and download music assets with ease. The page had to let existing customers keep their preferred workflow, while helping new visitors discover relevant music they might not have found on their own.

Goal & hypothesis

Make music discovery effortless

Facilitate the discovery of background, intro, and logo music, making it seamless and enjoyable to find the perfect tracks for a project.

Hypothesis 01

A well-structured page will help users discover the right music, improving their perception of Envato’s music library.

Hypothesis 02

A visually appealing page will keep visitors on the site longer and encourage exploration.

Insights & data

What customers need at this moment

At this point in the journey, customers are trying to:

  • Find relevant music for specific video and audio projects.
  • Find music for their projects quickly.
  • Use files that won’t be flagged on social media when they upload their content.
Key pain point

Uploaded media that gets flagged forces users to start the entire audio selection and implementation process all over again.

Design considerations

Principles that shaped the page

01
New brand language

The page had to express the new brand’s visual language and interaction principles from the ground up.

02
Music-first

Everything focused on music assets, so the layout stayed centered on browsing, previewing, and downloading tracks.

03
Search out of scope

Search was intentionally out of scope for this phase and will be revisited later, so discovery had to work through structure and curation.

The page

Structured for discovery, without search

With search out of scope, discovery had to come from structure. I organized the page into curated entry points: featured playlists, trending tracks, mood-based collections, and theme or genre browsing, so both returning customers and first-time visitors could reach the right music in a few clicks.

How we measured success

The metrics we tracked

Bounce rate

Are people staying on the page instead of leaving right away?

Retention & visit duration

Do visitors stay longer and keep exploring the library?

CTR of new components

Are the new discovery components actually being used?

Outcome

A discovery-first music page

By structuring the page around curated playlists, moods, and genres, we made music discovery possible without relying on search, aligned the experience to the new brand, and set clear metrics to validate the hypotheses. The result is a page that serves returning customers’ workflows while giving new visitors a reason to stay, explore, and download.
